White Lady
June 10, 2010
Three consecutive days of slate-grey skies and drizzling rain suggests that the Irish summer has arrived, a season best endured by sitting in an armchair, drinking cocktails while reading novels. With four bottles of gin in various stages of consumption sitting on the piano in the living room, my pleasure currently favours the White Lady, though I was disturbed to discover while fact-checking this post that I have been mixing it incorrectly, inadvertently depriving myself of one part gin. The correct recipe is:
2 parts Gin
1 part Cointreau
1 part lemon juice
Shake with ice and serve in a sugar-rimmed cocktail glass with a garnish of lemon peel.
